Noticing Your Own Self-Neglect

Noticing Your own Self-neglect EXERCISE

In addition to the challenging ways we speak to ourselves, we can also be pretty neglectful or harsh with how we treat ourselves.  And the first step to being able to change it, is to notice it.

This week, I want you to notice the ways you might treat yourself harshly. Do you push yourself too much and not take breaks? Do you spend time with a person who leaves you feeling bad about yourself? Do you put food in your body that leaves you feeling gross and lethargic? Do you stay up so late that you feel bad the next day? Do you consume so much coronavirus news that you’re stressing yourself out? And notice how you feel after you do it.

You don’t have to do anything differently about this for right now, just notice. Keep a journal or note in your phone this week for the ways you neglected or were hard on yourself and how you felt.  At the end of the week, see what you learned and how you feel about this.
